Edward Lee

Edward Lee has often been told by commercial organisations that his music is hard to market because it does not fit into any clearly defined style. This is not surprising,as his musical tastes are very wide. It constantly crosses barriers and makes links between different types of music.

His music is also deceptively simple, which makes it easy to listen to and to play. But to play it really well is more difficult, because the player needs to have a feel for a range of styles.

Terry Mortimer (National Theatre) once said that Edward could take a handful of common chords and yet give them a distinctive quality.

Edward’s guitar style is unusual, having a lyrical and singing quality which is also typical of his themes.

Yet Edwin Webb, poet and university lecturer in English Literature, has always said that the music isn’t just sweet – there is an edge or tension in it, which makes you keep listening, and want to listen again.
